No woman wants to have an abortion
Those words seem so contradictory to the message put forth for so many years by the advocates of “safe and legal” abortion. Their message assumes that the violent act of cutting a baby from the womb of a mother is in some way similar to having one’s toenails clipped. I have witnessed many young women who walk into one of our local abortion mills, with the apparent casual attitude of visiting the salon. The nervous smile hides the pain within.
It is the face that I see when she returns out the door that reminds us all of what God has written into the heart of every woman, the tiny voice within that is Motherhood. The body of a woman is so beautifully created to be the vessel and means that brings forth life. From the very moment of conception her body is releasing hormones that prepare her body to support this new life within her. We refer to this “Divine” blueprint as “Natural Law”. It does not matter what race, religion, or culture you observe, you will find this “instinct for Motherhood” in women. Natural Law shows us that pregnancy is harmonious with the design of her body and if this is interrupted, her health is at risk.
The scientific data is overwhelming that abortion is harmful to a woman, physically and psychologically. The woman who is walking into the abortion mill has been pressured by society, her friends, parents, and even the father of the child, to “choose” something unnatural to her very being. She is expected to carry on as if this violence against her is a non-event.
The volunteers at Loreto House understand the pain that women, and men, suffer as the result of abortion. We offer compassionate non-judgmental help for people of all races, faiths, or marital status.
